Food Service- Seasonal

Eddyville, KY

Starting Salary: $8.00 – $10.00

$8.00 – Cashiers (minimum age 14*) & Food Prep (minimum age 15)

$10.00 – Team Leaders/ Grill Cooks (minimum age 16)

 

Position Summary:

       To serve our guests in a timely and courteous fashion in the concessions or grill work area. We strive for organization through professionalism and service excellence. Positions include cashier, food prep (min. 15 years old) and grill cook. (min. 16 years old)

 

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take orders and serve food/refreshments to customers and employees.
  • Follow sanitation requirements.
  • Clean and stock service station/work area.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers and general public.
  • Work in an efficient, timely and organized manner.
  • Learn how to operate the cash register.
  • Cross-train between concessions and grill area.
  • Available to work at least one day of the weekend and available for summer holidays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Safety Hazards:

         Must be able to work indoors in a hot/ humid environment. Ovens and grills will be on and windows open all day. Must wear closed toe shoes in the grill area and shoes with straps or closed toe shoes in concessions (no flip-flops). You will be working with grease, hot pans and ovens. Frequent use of hands, wrists and fingers associated with delivering food and drinks. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting and walking required. A lot of standing is required in this busy area. May require walking on wet and slippery floors, or in freezers.

Lifeguard Job Description

Lifeguard- Seasonal

Starting Salary: $10.00 at 15 years old & $11.00 for 16+

Min. 15 years old

 

Position Summary:

         Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of all Venture River Water Park guests. This is a serious job and people’s lives are in your hands.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding guest service while performing assigned duties, including training, interpreting and conveying information throughout the waterpark property.
  • Ensure the safety of all guests within the waterpark.
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner.
  • Must be able to deal with change and uncertainty and flexible enough to adapt and sensibly respond to situations at hand.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instruction, and procedure manuals. Ensure that all water rides are operated properly and that any unsafe conditions are reported to the Aquatics Manager or Lifeguard Supervisors.
  • Comply with Star Guard and Venture River Water Park standards.
  • Attend pre-shift, weekly, and monthly meetings/ inservice.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Maintain a clean and safe waterpark.
  • Assist in cleaning waterpark as assigned.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities.
  • Must be in routine uniform every day. Including, swimsuit or trunks, visor, whistle and lanyard, sunglasses and fanny pack.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Success Measurement:

    The Lifeguard shall be measured on his/her ability to:

  • Provide consistently high levels of guest service as defined and measured within The Venture River guest service expectations and criteria.
  • Speak loudly, clearly, and communicate all safety instruction to all guests.
  • Effectively work as a team.
  • Ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times by guests as well as other employees.
  • Ensure the safe operations of the assigned slide.

 

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time in excess of 8 hours.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to swim 100 yards.
  • Must be able to use hand signals and blow a whistle.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
  • Bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing and pulling required throughout shift, including all in-services.

 

Work Environment/ Safety Hazards:

       Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat and humidity. May experience exposure to blood borne spills by injuries or illness, and other bodily functions.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

15 years of age.

Ability to pass Star Guard Swim Test: swim 100 yards, 50 yards without stopping and 50 yards carrying rescue tube, 10 lb. brick retrieval from the bottom of shallow pool, and tread water for 1 minute without using hands.

Complete Lifeguard Training provided by Star Guard taught by Star Guard Instructors at Venture River or Brooks Pool in Paducah, KY.

Obtain and maintain CPR certification through Star Guard.

Maintain current license and pass required training to remain in position.

Ride Attendant Job Description

Ride Attendant- Seasonal

Starting Salary: $10.00

Min. 16 years old

 Position Summary:

         Ride Attendants are responsible for the safety of VRWP guests that ride the slides. This is a serious job and you must be capable of enforcing the rules of dispatch. 

 Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understand the importance of measuring and weighing guests for their safety before they ride a slide.
  • Understand the EAP/ whistle signals for communication and emergencies.
  • Be able to deal with change and uncertainty, and sensibly respond to situations at hand.
  • Be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Comply with StarGuard dispatch guidelines and Venture River standards
  • Attend training/ in-services as assigned
  • Assist in cleaning waterpark as assigned
  • Must be in routine uniform every day
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays during the season

Office/Gift Shop Worker- Seasonal

Starting Salary-$11.00

Min. 18 years of age and High School Graduate

 

Position Summary:

       Your responsibility is to attend to guests upon their arrival to the waterpark and be able to answer their questions about Venture River (pricing, hours of operation, attractions, etc.) Customer service plays a big part in this job.

  • Provides superior guest service to all individuals you interact with.
  • Work with computer systems to sell tickets or merchandise.
  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, peers and guests in person and possibly on the phone.
  • Handle conflicts and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Keep workstation clean and organized.
  • Gift shop- be able to stock merchandise and sell our products. Answer questions about products if necessary.
  • Be able to answer questions about the water park.
  • Must be available to work weekends and summer holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Custodian Job Description

Lady Custodian- Seasonal

Eddyville, KY

Starting Salary: $11.00

Min. 18 years of age

 

Position Summary:

         You will be responsible for the cleanliness of our ladies’ bath houses and tables at our concession stand. Ensure quality, guest satisfaction and safety standards that is established by Venture River Water Park.

 

Essential Jobs & Responsibilities:

  • Perform janitorial services throughout the two bath houses; includes restock toilet paper, paper towels & soap dispensers, cleaning toilets and floors.
  • Respond to guests/employees for immediate concerns, questions or complaints.
  • Maintain Cleanliness throughout concessions stand eating area; includes wiping off tables, sweeping under/around tables, pick up trays and/or trash laying around.
  • Report lost items to the office as soon as possible; includes money, jewelry, technology or anything worth value.
  • Be on time and follow job duties.
  • Must be able to work 10:00 am -5:00 pm most days, weekends and holidays throughout the summer.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Tube Attendant Job Description

Tube Attendant- Seasonal

Starting Salary: $7.50

Min. 14 years old*

 

Position Summary:

         Tube attendants are responsible for handing out, picking up and airing up tubes at each required tube stack spot. You will need to be able to interact with customers and ensure their safety by knowing the guidelines at each required attraction.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Always be in uniform. Khaki shorts, Venture River shirt and hat/visor.
  • Always be courteous and attentive to our guests.
  • Stand if someone approaches your work area and always offer to help with retrieving any tubes they want.
  • If you are working at a spot that requires measuring children make sure you are paying attention to each child, and don’t let them ride the slide if they are not tall enough.
  • If you are not busy helping customers and there is not a line at your tube station please clean up around your area, stack the tubes and air up any inflated tubes.
  • Know the measurements and rules for all 5 required spots. Splash pool, Lazy River, Cliffhanger, Waloopas and Fumbi.
  • Must be available to work at least one day of the weekend, and summer holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Work Environment/ Safety Hazards:

         Must be able to work in an outdoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat and humidity. Strap on sandals are recommended for the slippery surfaces and your feet will get wet from retrieving tubes. You will mainly work half days, but you will be on your feet most of the time. Frequent bending, stooping, lifting and standing required. This job does require picking up tubes and stacking them so you must be able to carry at least 20 lb. family rafts in the heat.

Calypso's Cafe Job Description

Café– Seasonal

Starting Salary: $9.00

Min. 16 years old (Team Leader must be 18 years old)

 

Position Summary:

     Café employees are part of the food service team, but will be located within Treasure Landing Gift Shop. Thus not only having responsibilities of quality food/ beverage service, but to also attend to guests upon their arrival to the waterpark and be able to answer their questions about Venture River (pricing, hours of operation, attractions, etc.) Customer service plays a big part in this job. This food area will serve coffee and hand dipped ice cream.

Park Services Job Description

Park Services– Seasonal

Starting Salary: $8.50 -$11.00

Students 14-15 Yrs $8.50

Students 16-17 Yrs $9.50

H.S. Graduates $11.00

Position Summary:

Park Services are employees that are dedicated to maintain a clean and safe waterpark. It is your job to keep the park looking “pristine” and sanitized. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help maintain slide safety. This includes pathways to and from slide entrances and exits.
  • Follow sanitation guidelines
  • Keep trashcans/ lids clean to prevent bugs, smalls, etc.
  • Keep men’s restrooms clean and stocked (i.e. toilet paper/ paper towels)
  • Maintain landscape beds
  • Pressure wash/ clean high traffic areas per nightly schedule
  • Sweep/ pickup any trash throughout park

 

Work Environment/ Safety Hazards:

       Must be able to work outdoors in heat, rain, and other Kentucky summer weather. Must wear a closed toe shoe or a sandal with a secure strap, no flip flops. This job requires hard work, and a good deal of standing/ walking. Bending/ stooping and lifting might be required. Must be able to work responsibly with cleaning chemicals- including bleach.
